| Bio: | A house for a few dolls and the person who cares for them. ♥Mariette Coppelia♥ (DoT "Shall"): Mariette calls herself the "daughter" of an alchemist who lived some time in the late 1800s. Apparently, while working on the ancient challenge of transmuting lead into gold, he unintentionally created her. At the second stage of transmutation, the "Whitening" stage, the creature that appeared to him was the Skeleton. But rather than having the transmutation proceed on to the "Green Lion" stage, the Skeleton had white flesh and skin appear on it and it seemed to come to life--like a white flame. Fascinated with this tiny figure, the alchemist sealed it in a glass sphere and set about creating a body to house it. That was Mariette's first body. He named her "Mariette" for its similarity to "marionette" and "Coppelia" for the living doll character in the ballet of the same name. He taught her all he could and used her for an assistant in his experiments. The problem, of course, was that the alchemist (being unable to create the fabled Philosopher's Stone and its aqua vitae) grew old and died while Mariette did not. When her first body began to crumble with age, she was obliged to move into another, and another, and another, as the years have passed. Sometimes she has been cared for by children as a "living doll," other times she has had to live secretly in broken and discarded playthings. But she has now taken this current form and is living here--which is, i think, quite a departure from her lives in the past. †Hajimemashite† (DoC "Homme Ivan"): Called "Hajime" ("beginning" in Japanese).
